Prolific Brisbane novelist Nick Earls is the author of twenty-eight books, including the best-selling novels Zigzag Street, Bachelor Kisses and Perfect Skin, and the award-winning novella series Wisdom Tree.

Meditative in its study of human life, his latest book Empires is a poignant look at the connections we make, the connections we miss and the many ways that we need to be mindful of this planet we share.

Spanning centuries and crossing continents, Empires is an exploration of the narratives society constructs and the interconnectedness of all things.

Joined in conversation at Brisbane Powerhouse’s Underground Theatre with ABC Radio’s Katherine Feeney, Nick Earls will deconstruct the creation of his latest work.

Endlessly compelling and inventive, Empires is a masterful novel in five parts with boys and men at its heart which explores how the past influences the present.
